The 2nd and 3rd phrases have these 7 narrator words ... apestegasan tēn stegēn hopou ēn, kai exoruxantes (they-unroofed the roof where he-was, and having-dug-it-out, ...). The 7 narrator words are top down. The 5 words of phrase two are synonymous with the 2 words of phrase three. The unroofed roof is in the background tangent to the two men who dug it out and behind the paralytic held by the Unclean Spirit (the mat) on top of the house. The words "kai exoruxantes" (and having dug it out) are tangent to 'the hole in the roof' directly under the paralytic and his 'bed.' After "having dug it out," the four men and the paralytic prepare to descend through the hole in the roof. The next phrase also has 7 words that will lower the paralytic down. 2:4a < Verses > 2:4c |
