Verse 2 has 3 phrases containing 16 narrator words. The first very ambiguous phrase has these 6 words, ... Kai sunēchthēsan polloi hōste mēketi chōrein (And having-entered again into Capernaum after days, ...) The 6 words are top down and the context is about room before the door. The 2 words "sunēchthēsan polloi" (and were led-together) is a euphamism for tangency. The 4 words "polloi hōste mēketi chōrein" (many so as no longer to have room) is another term of tangency. The imagery of the next phrase supplies the context for the above diagram which shows two sets of men can be tangent to the six words so that there is no room to put another man and there is still room before the door. This verse says so much with so few words and then leaves so much to the imagination. Whoever composed this verse used the geometry of gematria to craft his words like a carpenter uses a jig to cut his boards at an exact angle before they are clamped and glued together to make a cabinet. 2:1b < Verses > 2:2b |
