The 3rd phrase has these 3 narrator words, ... exēlthen emprosthen pantōn (he-went-forth in-front-of everyone, ...). The 3 words are top down. The text says he was "emprosthen pantōn" (in-front-of everyone), meaning the men in the crowd (Mk2:1-2), the four carriers of the mat (2:3-5), the two scribes (2:6-10), and Jesus and the Father (2:1-12), a total of 12 faces. The only way he could do that is if he "exēlthen" (he went forth) from the floor of the house up on to the door frame. The feet of Jesus and the head of the cured paralytic child are tangent to the top of the house. 2:12a < Verses > 2:12c |
