For the 6th phrase the devil says these 5 dialog words ... kai epi xeirōn apousin se ("and upon hands they-will-lift-up you, ..."). The 5 dialog words are bottom up. The Devil has paraphrased the first phrase of the second sentence of this scripture: "God commands the angels to guard you in all your ways. With their hands they shall support you, less you strike your foot against a stone." (Psalm 91:11-12). The diagram shows the hands of the two angels supporting Jesus to prevent him from falling. The pronoun "they" in apousin (they will lift up) seems to refer back to "the angels" not to "their hands." No matter where you place the angels in this diagram, they can not put their hands on the feet of Jesus to lift him up. Their hands can only support him. Matt 4:6b < Verses > Matt 4:6d |
