The fourth through eighth phrases have these 6 narrator and 4 dialog words, ... kai fōnousin ton tuflon legontes autō, ... "Tharsei, egeire, fōnei se" (And they called the blind man saying to him, ... "Have courage, Stand up, He is calling you"). Diagram 1: The 6 words are top down. The first 4 words "kai fōnousin ton tuflon" (And they called the blind man) are tangent to Bartimaeus and the same men who rebuked him to be quiet. The last 2 words "legontes autō" (He is calling you) are tangent to Bartimaeus, the two men who told him Jesus was leaving Jericho on the way, and the two men who rebuked him. Diagram 2: The 4 dialog words are bottom up, tangent to Bartimaeus by the men. The verbs "tharsei" (to have good courage) and "egeire" (to wake, to rise, to stand up) are tangent to Bartimaeus standing up into the white triangle, the sign of "courage." The words "fōnei se" (He is calling you) are tangent to the two disciples who notified the bottom two men and Bartimaeus about Jesus. Here they are doing it again. The imagery of the text matches the diagrams. 10:49a < Verses > 10:50 |
