Jn 2:14a ... And he found in the temple ones selling oxen, and sheep, and doves, ...

Verse 14 has two phrases of 16 narrator words. The first phrase has these 12 words in this exact order ... Kai eupen ev tō hierō tous pōlountas boas kai probata kai peristeras (And he found in the Temple "the ones" selling oxen, and sheep, and doves, ...).

The 12 narrator words are top down. The words hierō tous (temple, the ones) are tangent to the temple and a representative Jewish animal dealer for each class of seller; the words pōlountas boas (selling oxen) are tangent to the "cages holding oxen;" the words kai probata (and sheep) and kai peristeras (and doves) are tangent to "the cage holding sheep," and "the cages holding doves." The Jews went to the temple just before Passover to buy animals to sacrifice. Oxen were very expensive, sheep were much less expensive, followed by doves which only the poor could afford to buy. Remember, the Holy Spirit came down as a dove when Jesus was baptised in the Jordan by John the Baptist just before Jesus began to preach his gospel.
