The 2nd phrase has these 5 narrator words ... kai perikaluptein autou to prosōton (and to cover around his the face, ... ). The 5 narrator words are top down. The text says perikaluptein, which comes from the preposition peri (about, around, the root of perimeter) and the verb kalupto (to veil, hide, conceal, envelop). The text is ambiguous as to what was used to cover his face. Why is the text ambiguous? This murky wording is perfect if this is a gematria story. The diagram shows another pair of temple officials, the scribes, can now "spit" the word "prosōton" (face) to "perikaluptein" (cover around) the face of Jesus! Amazingly, the hands of Jesus are virtually tangent to this so called "blasphemy" covering his face! 14:65a < Verses > 14:65c |
