The fourth and fifth phrases have with these 7 dialog words ... Kai ho oinos apollutai, kai oi askoi ("and the wine is ruined, and the wineskins."). The 7 words are bottom up. xxxxxxx Perhaps the concluding sentence implies that Jesus has cast the Holy Spirit (new wineskins) into "new wine" (new believers). This parable restates the prophesy of John the Baptist when he said he baptised people with water but Jesus baptised with the Holy Spirit (Mark 1:8). 2:22b < Verses > 2:22d |
