Verse 20 has two phrases containing 16 dialog words. The first phrase has 9 words in this order, ... eleusontai de hēmerai hotan aparthē ap autōn ho numfios ("Will come yet days when is taken away from them the groom, ..."). The 9 words are bottom up. The first three words "eleusontai de hēmerai" (Will come yet days) are tangent to three equilateral triangles holding "three days" (night-day-night), the time Jesus spent in his tomb from Friday night to his resurrection on Sunday morning. The 4 words "hotan aparthē ap autōn" (when is taken away from them) are tangent to the eight equilateral triangles holding the four disciples and the three days. The last 2 words "ho numfios" (the groom) are tangent to Jesus holding at arms length the two words signifying his title in this pericope. The nine words in this diagram signify the ninth hour (6 AM to 3 PM), the time of his death on Good Friday "when he was taken away from them." 2:19b < Verses > 2:20b |
