Jn 11:15a ... And I-rejoice because-of you that you-may-believe, that not I-was there.

cc

Verse 15 has 3 phrases and 14 dialog words. The 1st and 2nd phrases have these 10 words in this exact order, ... "Kai xairō di humas hina pisteusēte, hoti ouk ēmēn ekei" (And I-rejoice because-of you that you-may-believe, that not I-was there).

The 10 dialog words are top down. Jesus informs the disciples an additional fact about the death of Lazarus. The first 6 words are tangent to the disciples. The last 4 words are tangent from Jesus across the Jordan as if he was with Lazarus in Bethany in Judea. Had he been there, Lazarus would not have died. Jesus made a prophesy from a distance in verse 11 that he would go to Lazarus to waken him. Jesus then plainly told the disciples in verse 14 that Lazarus was dead. Jesus raised the son of the Royal official in Capernaum from a distance in chapter 4. Jesus also had the power to raise Lazarus in Bethany from a distance but he chose not to because he could now prove his divinity to his disciples. That is why Jesus is rejoicing.
