Jn 11:11b ... And after this he-says to-them, ... "Lazarus the friend of-us has-fallen-asleep, ..."

The 2nd and 3rd phrases have these 5 narrator and 5 dialog words, ... kai meta touto legei autois, Lazaros o filos emon kekoimetai (And after this he-says to-them, ... "Lazarus the friend of-us has-fallen-asleep, ...").

The 10 words are top down. The above diagram shows Lazarus with his eyes closed. Jesus knew from a distance that Lazarus was dead. The disciples knew from the sisters in verse 3 that Lazarus was very sick. They heard Jesus say "this sickness would not lead to death." They did not know that "fallen-asleep" was a euphemism meaning Lazarus had just died or that his death would not be permanent. Or maybe Jesus was comparing Lazarus to the son of the Royal official in John 4:46-54 who was also sick, then from a distance reported dead, but soon later reported recovered and alive.
