Verse 8 has 3 phrases containing these 4 narrator and 7 dialog words ... Legei autō ho Iēsous, Egeire, apon ton krabatton sou kai peripatei (Says to him the Jesus, "Rise, take up the mat of you and walk around"). The 4 narrator words are top down. The 7 dialog words are clockwise starting top of the mat. The two words "krabatton sou" (your mat) is tangent to the man's mat. The diagram shows that as soon as Jesus said these words, the Unclean Spirit called "weakness" left his body to hide in the mat. When Jesus commanded it, the Unclean Spirit could not stop the man from raising his mat (his weakness) to his head. The next verse will show what Jesus says next to make the man well enough to walk around. John 5:7e < Verses > John 5:9a |
