Verse 7 contains 7 phrases and 27 words. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd phrases contain these 4 narrator and 4 dialog words ... apekrithē autō ho asthenōn, Kurie, anthrōpon ouk echō (Answered to-him the feeble-one, ... "Lord, a-man not I-have, ..."). The 4 narrator and 4 dialog words are tangent to the feeble man and to Jesus. The Lord decides to make his complaints come true. As soon as the man says, "Lord a-man not do I-have," his first two words are tangent to the triangle holding Jesus. The feeble one now has Jesus on his side. The man will tell Jesus in the next two phrases why he can't get in the water quick enough to cure himself. He will explain why he needs a man to help him get into the pool when the water begins to agitate. John 5:6c < Verses > John 5:7b |
