Mk 15:20a ... And when they had mocked to him, they out-slipped him-(of) the purple, ...

Verse 20 has 5 phrases and 20 narrator words. The 1st and 2nd phrases have these 8 words, ... Kai hote enepaiksan autōi, eksedusan auton tēn porfuran [And when they had mocked to him, they out-slipped him-(of) the purple, ...].

The 8 words are bottom up. The gospel says the purple (garment) was slipped-in and out-of (Mk 15:17a, 20a). The purple had to be a pull-over. The gospel confirms the purple went on before the thorns (15:17a, 17b). If the purple (garment) could be damaged (see diagram), the thorns would have to be removed before the purple. No soldier would risk placing the slippery, blood-soaked thorns back on Jesus and risk getting stuck. The "Crown of Thorns" was a sadistic prank to mock Jesus. They had no idea that the charge against him would include the term "King of the Jews." The "Wreath of Thorns" is never mentioned again.
