Jn 2:24a ... But Jesus himself not entrusted himself to them, ...

xx

Verse 24 has two phrases containing 12 narrator words. The first phrase has these 7 words ... autos de Iēsous ouk episteuen auton autois (himself but Jesus not entrusted himself to them, ...).

The 7 narrator words are top down. The text uses the word "episteuen" (trust, commit, believe). The 3 words "autos de Iēsous" (himself but Jesus) are tangent to Jesus himself. The 4 words "ouk episteuen auton autois" (not was entrusting himself to them) are not tangent to the four Jews becausehe did not trust them to appear. Even though many men believed in him if they witnessed a sign miracle, Jesus did not trust them to testify about him. He knew all men had a sin nature. The only men Jesus trusted were his disciples and even then he knew one of them would betray him. The words "auton autois" (himself to them) is tangent to the four sellers of living sacrifices that would be killed on the same day Jesus would be crucified. Judas would later sell Jesus in the temple.
