Verse 3 has three phrases and 13 words. The first and second phrases have these 10 narrator words ... Kai husterēsantos oinou, legei hē mētēr tou Iēsou pros auton (And was lacking wine says the mother of the Jesus to him, ... ). The 10 narrator words are bottom up. The words "wine was lacking" meant the original wine on hand was now consumed. The bridegroom needed more. Notice how the three pairs of words "Kai husterēsantos oinou, legei" (and was lacking wine says), "hē mētēr" (the mother), and "tou Iēsou pros auton" (of the Jesus to him) are each tangent to the images they name. The diagram shows an empty amphore (a ceramic storage container) standing in a hole in the ground. Inside the jar are the outlines of three overlapping christ circles representing the "lack of wine."
