The 4th phrase has these 5 narrator words ... ēlthen gunē exousa alabastron murou (came a woman having an alabaster of ointment, ...). The 5 narrator words are bottom up the sides and down the center. An unnamed woman with an alabaster of perfume now appears. The five words are exactly tangent to to its three named signs: the woman, the alabaster jar, and the liquid perfume inside the jar. Future gospels and commentaries will attempt to fill in the blanks about her. Alabaster was an almost pure transluscent white stone, perfect for making perfume jars with a narrow neck and a wide base, a perfect design for not tipping over and for keeping the perfume inside from evaporating. 14:3b < Verses > 14:3d |
