Mk 12:12b ... and they were afraid of the crowd, ...

The 2nd phrase has these 4 narrator words ... Kai efobēthēsan ton oxlon (And they were afraid of the crowd, ... ).

The 4 narrator words are top down. The chief priest is sitting inside the parable Jesus told. The diagram shows the chief priests, scribes, and elders all knew the parable Jesus told was all about them. They are divided because of their fear of how the crowd might react if they immediately tried to arrest Jesus.
