Mk 12:1a ... And he began to speak to them in parables.

Verse 1 has 7 phrases and 24 words. The first phrase has these 6 narrator words ... Kai ērksato autois en parabolais lalein (And he began to them in parables to speak).

The 6 narrator words are top down. Jesus continues verbally sparring with the chief priests, scribes, and elders. This parable is directed against them. A parable is an abstract noun which by convention is represented as an equilateral triangle. The diagram shows Mark has set each priest, scribe, and elder either next to or inside of "a parable."
