Verse 4 has two phrases and 10 words. The first phrase has 3 narrator words and the second has 7 dialog words, ... oi de eipan, Epetrepsen Mōusēs biblion apostasiou grapsai, kai apolusai (And they said, ... "Allowed Moses a certificate of separation written and to separate"). The 10 words are top down. The verb epitrepo, from epi (on) and trepo (turn), literally means "to turn on" or "to allow." The noun apostasion, derived from aphistemi (apo = away) and (histemi = to stand), literally means to stand away, "divorce." The verb apolusai, from (apo = away) and luo (to loose), means "to separate." The diagram shows Moses turning a certificate on it's side, making a rectangle into a rhombus. Nobody except Moses is tangent to this certificate which makes it a document of divorce written by Moses. 10:3 < Verses > 10:5 |
