Verse 38 has 3 phrases containing 18 narrator words. The 1st phrase has these 10 words, ... Iēsous oun palin, embrimōmenos en eautō, erxetai eis to mnēmeion (Jesus then again, groaned in himself, comes into the tomb). The 10 words are top down forming an oval of words around Jesus. The first and last three in-line words of text read, "Iēsous ... eis to mnēmeion" (Jesus ... into the tomb) are tangent to his "head, feet, and the top and bottom of the tomb." The diagram shows Jesus scaling the stone, vicariously entering into the tomb via the "Spirit window" above the stone blocking it's entrance. Martha, Mary, and the four Jews now arrive at the tomb. Jesus is getting ready to raise Lazarus. His two sisters want to be there when it happens. Jn 11:37c < Verse > Jn 11:38b |
