Jn 1:24 ... And the-ones-sent were out of-the Pharisees.

Verse 24 has the following 6 narrator words ... Kai epestalmenoi ēsan ek tōn farisaiōn (And the-ones-sent were out of-the Pharisees).

The 6 words are top down. The Pharisees were the strictest sect of the Jewish religion and the common people thought their decisions regarding the Jewish Law was infallible. Most members of the Sanhedrin council were Pharisees (Acts 23:1-10). The Pharisees were very protective of the Sabbath and Jewish rites, especially baptism. They believed John lacked the authority to baptize Jews unless he was a legitimate prophet. The scene was now set for what follows.

Jn 1:23b < Verses > Jn 1:25a
