Verse 21 has 8 phrases and 19 words. The 1st through the 5th phrases of the priests, Levites, and John contain these 3 narrator and 5 dialog words followed by the next 2 phrases of John's answer having 2 narrator and 2 dialog words ... Kai erotesan auton, Ti ouv; Su Elias ei? Kai legei, Ouk eimi. (And they-asked him, "What then; You Elias are"? ... And he-says, "Not I-am."). All 12 words of the first 5 phrases are bottom up. The priests and Levites thought that Elias, who died hundreds of years before, would personally come down from heaven to prepare the way of the Messiah. If not him, then his soul would come down into another person's body to fulfill the prophesy ...
