Jn 1:23a ... He-said, "I, a-voice crying in the wilderness, ..."

Verse 23 contains 5 phrases and 16 words. The 1st through 3rd phrases have this one narrator and 6 dialog words, ... Efe, Egō, fōnē boōntos en tē erēmō, (He said, ... "I, a-voice crying in the wilderness, ...").

The 7 words are top down. Every single word is tangent to the images they name. The first four words are tangent to the lips, body and rhombus holding John the Baptist. The words "in the wilderness" are tangent to the sign of the wilderness. John's body is perched on the words "crying in the center of the wilderness." Here is the OT reference: "A voice is calling, 'Clear the way for the LORD in the wilderness; make smooth in the desert a highway for our God." (Isaiah 40:3-4).
