Verse 3 has two phrases of 17 narrator words. The first phrase has these 8 words, ... Kai ta himatia autou egeneto stilbonta leuka lian (And the garments of him became shining white exceedingly, ...). The 8 narrator words are bottom up. This phrase describes the garments of Jesus in the shape of a rhombus. Matthew said the face of Jesus was the light source for his garments which “shone like the sun” (Mt 17:2). Luke suppressed the comparison of Jesus with the sun (Luke 9:29). He said his face became different and the garments of him became "leukos eksastrapton" (dazingly white). |
