The fourth sentence has these 4 narrator words ... hōra ēn hōs dekatē (hour was about a tenth). The 4 words are bottom up. The 10 numbered hours are also bottom up. The hour number "10" has landed directly on the chest of Jesus, the place where Jesus stays. The hour number "9" has landed on his feet, about where Jesus stays. The narrator could have composed the phrase to say "(The) hour was a tenth." But he didn't, because he could not get the word "dekatē" tangent to the number "10." So the narrator was forced to write the words "hōs dekatē" (about a tenth) to be tangent to the hour number "9." This is now 100% correct. The number "9" is "about a tenth."
