The 1st and 2nd phrases have these 14 words, ... Kai elegon pros eautas, Tis apokulisei hēmin, ton lithon ek tēs thuras tou mnēmeiou (And they-were-saying to themselves, ... "Who will-roll-away for-us the stone from the door of-the tomb")? This verse shows what the women said when they actually came upon (epi) the tomb and looked up. The 4 narrator and 10 dialog words are now top down instead of bottom up. The word "tis" (who) instead of "mnēmeiou" (tomb) is now tangent to the top of the tomb, the inside rock ledge where Jesus was placed. The first 5 words "Who will roll away for us the stone" is what the women were thinking. The last 5 words "ek tēs thuras tou mnēmeiou" (from the door of-the tomb) are tangent to the stone, the door, and the floor of the room inside the tomb. 16:3a < Verse > 16:4 |
