The second phrase has these 10 dialog words, ... hoti ouketi ou mē piō ek tou genēmatos tēs ampelou (that no longer not me will drink out of the (fruit) born of the vine, ...). The 10 words are top down. The text doesn't say what Jesus won't be drinking. The word "fruit" (karpos) is never written, it is understood. Jesus never drank or ate anything so far in this gospel and and he won't in this verse or by it's end. The answer to the question "drink what is born out of the vine?" seems to be "wine" but the word "amen" always seems to be code for something spiritual or metaphorical to follow. The diagram of the previous verse showed a stream of blood coming from his body in a cup. This diagram shows a stream of "fruit" generated from a grape vine. The four words tangent to the vines on this diagram are a prophesy that says "ou mē tēs ampelou" (not me of the vine). Let's see what diagram 14:25c shows for phrase three. 14:25a < Verses > 14:25c |
