Mk 13:7a ... "But when you hear battles, ..."

Verse 7 has five phrases containing 14 dialog words. The 1st phrase has these 4 dialog words ... hotan de akousēte polemous ("When but you hear battles, ...").

The 4 dialog words are top down. The six men inside the large red circle were in a bloody battle. When the four disciples have their ears tangent to the red circle, they "hear the battle." The Roman occupation of Jewish lands could be considered a battle that was brewing. Orthodox Jews were already at war with Hellenized Jews collaborating with Rome.
