Verse 45 has 3 phrases and 19 dialog words. The first two phrases have these 11 words, ... "Kai gar ho huios tou anthrōpou ouk ēlthen diakonēthēnai alla diakonesai" ("For even the 'Son of Man' did not did come to be served, but to serve, ..."). The 11 dialog words are bottom up. John and James asked Jesus to sit, "one on his right and one on his left, in his Glory" (Mk 10:37). In answer, the last words Jesus said were "who ever wishes to be great or first must first be a servant or a slave to all" (10:43-44). Jesus ironically denies and grants their request. His 11 word answer starts from his right side and ends on his left. The diagram shows the four words "Kai gar ... ouk ēlthen" (For even ... not did come) applies to John and James. But these words also apply to Jesus who came before and is also greater than them. The word "diakonēthēnai" (to be served) is directly over Jesus. The 4 words "ho huios tou anthrōpou" (the 'Son of Man') are over the circumference of his "Son of Man" (2960) circle. And there is no one to be seen under the Son of Man which confirms "Jesus did not come to be served." 10:44b < Verses > 10:45b |
