Mk 10:44b ... "he must be of all a slave."

The second phrase has these 3 dialog words, ... estai pantōn doulos ("he must be of all a slave").

The 3 dialog words are top down. This hypothetical diagram shows John in the role of a slave to the other eleven disciples. The three words "estai pantōn doulos" (he must be of all a slave) is a genetive plural phrase tangent to the five white triangles of authority holding James and the other ten disciples. The genetive plural term "pantōn doulos" (of all a slave) is synonymous to the genetive plural term "humōn diakonos" (of you a servant) from verse 43c. Verses 43 and 44 say the same thing except that John and James exchange places being first and then last, master and servant.
