Mk 9:14a ... And having come before the disciples, they saw a crowd of many about them, ...

Verse 14 has three phrases and 15 narrator words. The first two phrases have these 10 narrator words ... Kai elthontes pros tous mathētas eidon oxlon polun peri autous (And having come before the disciples, they saw a crowd of many about them, ...).

The 10 narrator words are bottom up. This diagram just manages to squeeze in room for Jesus, the crowd of 4 men, the 12 disciples, and the 10 narrator words. A large or small crowd can be four or more people of any type. The first phrase is tangent to Simon, James, and John who came down from the transfiguration mountain to the bottom of the graph. The second phrase is tangent to the four men and the two scribes arguing with and bracketing the nine disciples who were present before the arrival of Jesus and the other three disciples. The ten narrator words fill in all the gaps. There is no room for any more word circles because they would cross the borders of the graph.
