The third phrase has these 6 dialog words ... "ei mē en proseuchē kai nēsteia" (if not by prayer and fast). The 6 dialog words are clockwise. This is where Jesus repays the disciples for leaving early. He only tells them one half of the answer of how to cast the Unclean Spirit out of the child. The official NA26 text says verse 29 ends with these 4 words "ei mē en proseuchē" (if not by prayer). The footnote says "other ancient authorities add 'and fasting.' " This commentary and diagram show that both versions of the ancient manuscripts were correct. The ones that add "and fasting" may have been for the initiates to the Christian Mysteries, the ones who knew gematria and sacred geometry. In the entire gospel, the disciples never fast or pray. Jesus however frequently prays to the Holy Spirit and never seems to eat or drink, even when he hungers. The diagram shows the vacuum of "nothing" lifts the "basket of bread" up through the background. The sharp points of the basket of bread against the triangle labelled "Fast" cut the Unclean Spirit in two. It also shows Jesus praying, fasting from the bread below. 9:29b < Verses > 9:30a |
