Verse 21 has two phrases and 5 words. The first phrase has these 3 narrator and 2 dialog words, ... Kai elegen autois, "Oupō suniete" (And he said to them, ... "Not yet do you understand?"). The 3 narrator and 2 dialog words are top down. The disciples did not understand what Jesus meant by "seeing the bread of the pharisees and of Herod." Perhaps the disciples thought their one loaf of bread came from that source. Jesus was speaking in metaphors, of physical verses spiritual bread, of parables verses miracles. Jesus is not questioning the understanding of the disciples, the author of the gospel is questioning the understanding of the reader! The parable of the Sower foreshadowed this theme of "not understanding." Read Mk4:9-13. Are you not "understanding" (suniemi) a gematria riddle when you see one? And on the road to Emmaus, in the breaking of the bread, this is how Jesus was made known to them (Lk 24:35). Each of the seven large or twelve small baskets can be completely filled with either fragments of fish or bread. The miracle of every story in the gospel is in the geometry! Gematria is a perfect match for the text!! 8:20c < Verses > 8:22a |
