Verse 40 has 6 phrases and 25 narrator words. The first phrase has these 3 words ... Kai kategelōn autou (And they-laughed-down at-him. ). The 3 narrator words are top down. The word "kategelōn" comes from "kata" (down) and "egelōn" (they laughed). After hearing their daughter was not dead, Jairos and his wife have stopped crying. The two mourners have flipped the tumult causing Jesus to drop down. The only ones now making a tumult now are the two mourners who are loudly laughing down at Jesus for not believing what he just said and for their practical joke of dropping him down. 5:39b < Verses > 5:40b |
