Verse 26 has three phrases containing 15 dialog words. The first phrase has these 9 words ... kai ei hō Satanas anestē ef eauton kai emeristhē ("And if the apponent stood up against himself and was parted, ..."). The 9 words are top down. The 2 words "hō Satanas" (the opponent) are tangent to the two triangles holding the two Jews. The center of the word "anestē" (stood up) lies directly over the point where their legs come together. The 2 words "ef eauton" (against himself) are tangent to the two triangles holding the two Jews. The 2 words "kai emeristhē" (and was parted) are tangent to the inside of the triangle that parts the two Jews. In this verse the author may be talking about the Jews rising up against each other which happened during the Roman Jewish war of 66-70 AD. The Greek word satanas can either mean "the opponent" or "Satan." The diagram shows one Jew pitted against another in the divided state of Judea or the city of Jerusalem. 3:25b < Verse > 3:26b |
