Verse 31 has four phrases and 17 narrator words. The first two phrases have these 9 words ... Kai erchetai ē mētēr autou, kai hoi adelfoi autou (And comes the mother of him, and the brothers of him, ...). The 9 words are clockwise starting from the bottom under his mother and ending tangent to two of his brothers on the right. The word "kai" (and) brackets the 9 words top and bottom. The Holy Spirit encloses Jesus and is tangent to his mother. Jesus has now finished talking in parables to the scribes. The story now resumes from verses 20-21 when his family comes. Jesus is now "outside beside himself" as mentioned in verse 21b. 3:30 < Verse > 3:31b |
