The 6 words are bottom up. This phrase says there were "polloi" (many) in Levi's house, the following verses will say how many more. Some people will be fastering, others not. The underlying diagram shows two groups of people. Levi, one of the two tax collectors, the two sinners, and the four disciples of Jesus are the ones not fasting. Jesus, the two scribes, two pharasees, and others not yet introduced are the ones who will be fasting. According to the next verse, these eight men tangent to the hexagon will be the ones not fasting.
