Verse 14 has 7 phrases and 20 words. The first 4 phrases have these 11 narrator words ... Kai paragōn eiden Leuin ton tou Alfaiou kathēmenon epi to telōnion (And leading beside, he saw Levi, the (son) of Alphaeus, sitting down upon the tax booth). The first 7 words are counter-clockwise from the top left. The last 4 words are top down from Levi. The first 2 words "Kai paragōn" (and leading sideways) is the cue the two tax collectors and two sinners have left for Levi's house. The names "Alphaeus" and "Levi" are tangent to the faces of the father (above) and the son (below). Alpheaus will appear again in verse 3:18b with his other son James, one of the minor disciples, who is drawn to look similar to his father. The 2 words "to telōnion" are tangent to the point where the bottom triangle and the tax booth intersect. The diagram and the imagery of the text agree with each other 100%. 2:13c < Verses > 2:14b |
