Verse 40 has 6 phrases and 18 words. The first two phrases contain 7 narrator words ... Kai erchetai pros auton, lepros parakalōn auton (And comes before him, a leper begging him ...). The 7 words are bottom up; 4 left and 3 right. The four words "Kai lepros erchetai parakalōn" (And a leper comes begging) are tangent to the face and hands of the leper. The three words "pros auton, auton" (before him, him) are tangent to the white triangle of the Holy Spirit holding Jesus. The diagram shows the dark triangle of the Unclean Spirit holding the leper. In the Old Testament lepers were ostracized from society. They were considered "unclean." If you even touched one you became unclean. People believed lepers were being punished by God, that they were possessed by an "Unclean Spirit." The above images are all tangent to the words they name. 1:39b < Verses > 1:40b |
