The second sentence has three phrases containing these 3 narrator and 2 dialog words, ... kai legei autō, ... "Thelō, katharisthēti" (And he says to him, ... "I am willing, be cleansed"). The 5 words are top down. The first phrase has these 3 narrator words, "kai legei autō" (And he says to him) which are tangent to Jesus and the Unclean Spirit holding the man. The last two phrases have these 2 dialog words "Thelō, katharisthēti" (I am willing, be cleansed) which are tangent to the 'out-stretched hands' of Jesus and the Unclean Spirit of Leprosy. According to Mosaic law, Jesus is now considered to be unclean and must observe a period of quarantine. The many witnesses will report Jesus as unclean as the leper far and wide. During this time he won't be able to enter any walled city for 7 days until he can prove himself to be clean. The man afflicted by the Unclean Spirit of Leprosy has raised his hands in joy upon learning that Jesus will try to cleanse him. 1:41a < Verses > 1:42 |
