Verse 10 has 2 phrases containing 15 words. The 1st phrase has these 7 dialog words ... "Ean de tis peripatē en tē nukti," ("If but anyone walks-around in the night, ..."). The 7 dialog words are top down from the hands and feet of Jesus down to 5 men walking-around in the sign of the night. This appears to be another "if-then" statement patterned on 11:9b-c. The word nukti (night) lies in the center of the graph (same place as a day) which acts as a "stumbling block" that the men can't see. This conditional statement is 5/6ths true. If the words in the next phrase cause anyone walking-around in the night to do something consistent with the hypothesis, the conclusion may be true. Jn 11:09c < Verse > Jn 11:10b |
