Mt 14:24b ... being-tortured under the swells, ...

The 2nd phrase has these 4 narrator words ... basanizomenon hupo tōn kumatōn (being-tortured under the swells). The preposition hupo (under) is preceded by the verb basanizomenon meaning "to test by torture." The plural noun kumatōn (swells, surges, waves) is derived from the verb kuo (to swell).

The 4 words of the phrase fit perfectly tangent to "the swells" which in turn are tangent to the base of the mountain back on the land. The diagram shows Jesus, from a distance on top of the mountain, is "torturing" the boat and the rowers out at sea. The swells can even be seen like welts rising up on the skin during a beating.
