Mt 14:24a ... Now the boat by-this-time was-distant many stadia from the land, ...

Verse 24 has 3 phrases containing 19 narrator words. The first phrase has these 10 words ... To de ploion ēdē stadious pollous apo tēs gēs apeixen (the now boat by-this-time 'stadia many' from the land was-distant, ...).

The 10 narrator words are bottom up tangent to the boat in the middle of the sea 'many stadia' from the bottom of the land. Jesus is still alone in the top of the mountain to the disciples out on the sea. As you can see, the gospel of John used Matthew as a primary source with this verse, then did additional work on the math and the geometry of the word "stadia." If the size of "a stadium" (a unit of length) is equal to Jesus, the boat would be 25 to 30 "stadia" from the land (John 6:19a).
