Verse 15 has 2 phrases and 12 dialog words. The 1st phrase has these 8 words, ... kai autos hemin deiksei anagaion mega estrōmenon hetoimon ("and he will-show you a large like-an-upper-earth spread-ready.") The 8 dialog words are top down from Jesus showing Simon and John next to an open doorway leading to the large upper earth-like room spread ready for them to see. The noun "anagaion" comes from the preposition "ana" (upper, above) and "gaion" from "gē" (earth) and the diminutive suffix "ion" meaning either "a little earth" or "like an earth." The adjective "mega" (large, great) rules out "a little earth." The bible translation of "avagaion mega" is "a large upper room." A more literal translation is "like a large upper-earth" which is a perfect metaphor for heaven. |
