Verse 14 has 4 phrases and 24 dialog words. The 1st and 2nd phrases have these 11 dialog words ... Kai hopou ean eiselthē, eipate tōi oikodespotē hoti ho didaskalos legei ("And where ever if he enters, tell the house-ruler that the Teacher says, ..."). The 11 dialog words are bottom up. The diagram shows Jesus, the Teacher, continues to give orders to the two disciples he sent down into the city from verse 13. The Teacher says wherever or "if he enters" the house. That wording is ambiguous. Does the pronoun "he" refer to the slave or to the house-ruler? The diagram shows the slave has entered through the door which is the sign the disciples are at the correct house. There is no room to draw the house ruler except standing on the flat roof. But if the house ruler is on the roof, then there is no room for Jesus. The last 5 dialog words also create a logical contradiction. The word oikodespotē (house-ruler) is tangent to the feet and body of the house-ruler standing on the roof. But the last 4 dialog words "that the Teacher says" are tangent to the body and face of Jesus, the one who is speaking. The only solution to this contradiction is if Jesus is also the house-ruler. The word "house-ruler" is simply a title, and a perfect one for Jesus. And if Jesus is God, he has the power to be in two places at once. The next diagram will show the next instruction the Teacher in Bethany gives and what the two disciples say to the house-ruler. 14:13b < Verses > 14:14b |
