Mk 12:40a ... "The ones eating down the houses of widows, ..."

Verse 40 has three phrases and 14 dialog words. The first phrase has these 6 dialog words, ... oi katesthiontes tas oikias tōn xerōn ("The ones down-eating the houses of widows, ...").

The 6 dialog words are top down. The verb katesthiontes comes from kata (down) and esthio (to eat). Two of the scribes are "eating down" the house of one widow in her house, the widow below her has already lost her house. The six words are all tangent to the images they name.
