Jesus denounces the Scribes

Mark 12:38-40

The Sacred Geometry Story

Setting: Jesus is still in the temple. The last time Jesus had a teaching against the scribes and the Temple authorities was the last parable of Mark 11 and the first parable of Mark 12, where Jesus was questioned by what authority he did things followed by his parable of the vineyard. This teaching is not about what the scribes are saying or asking but rather about what they are doing. In this parable Jesus will give four examples of sinful conduct of which the scribes are guilty of doing. Jesus will then pass a great judgement against them.

Characters: Jesus, four scribes, an unseen crowd.

Signs of Objects mentioned in the story: robes, marketplaces, synagogues, recliners, front seats, dinners, houses, a widow, long prayers, a greater all-around judgement.
