Mk 12:38b ... "the ones who like to walk about in robes, ..."

The 3rd phrase has these 5 dialog words, ... tōn thelontōn en stolais reripatein ("the ones who like in robes to walk about, ...").

The 5 dialog words are top down. The text seems to imply all scribes are like this. The previous teaching story proved otherwise. This diagram shows two scribes who like to "walk around" in "stolé" (long flowing robes, down to the ankles, resembling the clothes of rich women) and two who don't. The warning to "Look from the scribes!" is a double entendre. The main thing scribes do is write and draw. The scribe that composed this gospel wrote synonyms for various nouns, verbs, and modifiers that described the simple geometric shapes he used in his diagrams. His text was a clever recipe of how to draw his signs. His words were drawing instructions. His message: Look out from the text! See and draw the signs! The sign for "a robe" is an equilateral triangle.
