The second phrase has these 7 narrator words, ... oi mathētai autou kat idian epērōtōn auton (the disciples of him down privately were asking him, ...)

The 7 narrator words are bottom up. The three words "oi mathētai autou" (the disciples of him) are tangent to the three disciples. The word "auton" (him) is tangent to Jesus. All three disciples are also "autou kat idian" (of him down privately), meaning under and away from Jesus and also separated from each other. The diagram matches the imagery of the text.
